The Wynwood Business Improvement District (BID) and the world-renowned Miami City Ballet entered a partnership that includes sponsorship of the Ballet’s Wynwood-inspired Heatscape performance, as well as cultural programming for Wynwood-area school students.

“Through this partnership, we’re equally excited to bring children from Wynwood and our neighboring Overtown areas to experience high-quality theater and performance art, often for the first time,” said Manny Gonzalez, Executive Director of the Wynwood BID. “The Wynwood BID is working on several new outreach initiatives that will further build bridges with our surrounding communities.”

In December, the Wynwood BID invited nearly 160 students from schools in Wynwood and neighboring Overtown – including Phillis Wheatley Elementary, Jose De Diego Middle School and Dunbar Elementary – to attend a free Miami City Ballet performance of The Nutcracker at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts. City of Miami Commissioner Keon Hardemon facilitated the transportation for the school children to and from the performance.
