NYCHOS

Nychos: The Dissecting Visionary of Street Art
Nychos (born 1982) is an Austrian graffiti artist and illustrator renowned for his dissection, cross-section, and x-ray styles, often portraying animals and pop culture figures. His murals span the globe, and his canvas works have been showcased in international galleries. In 2015, he released The Deepest Depths of the Burrow, a documentary chronicling his experiences as a traveling artist.

Early Life & Artistic Development
Born into a hunter’s family in Bruck an der Mur, Austria, Nychos was fascinated by anatomy from an early age. Initially aiming to become a comic artist, he discovered graffiti at 17, which allowed him to experiment with color, spontaneity, and large-scale painting. Around 2011, he introduced dissection elements into his work, reflecting his deep-rooted interest in anatomical structures.

Signature Style & Technique
Nychos’ work is a fusion of graffiti, heavy metal, cartoons, and anatomy, often depicting transparent, dissected, or melting characters. His x-ray effect style evolved from years of experimenting with layered compositions. Unlike many muralists, he paints freehand without projections, relying only on minimal sketches.

Notable Murals & Exhibitions
Nychos is known for his high-speed execution of large-scale murals. His largest piece, Translucent Serpent (2016), spans 900 m² (9,700 sq ft) in Linz, Austria, completed in just five days. His solo exhibitions include:

Translucent Fear (2015) – Kolly Gallery, Zürich
IKON (2016) – Jonathan Levine Gallery, NYC
Monochrome Organism (2017) – Juddy Roller, Melbourne
Endless Layers Till Consciousness (2018) – Mirus Gallery, San Francisco
