MTO

MTO (Mateo) is a French street artist known for his large-scale, photorealistic murals of pop culture figures and evolving conceptual work. Starting in 2008 with the TWE crew in Barcelona, MTO’s art has grown to reflect the political and cultural climate of cities around the world. He’s known for using a grayscale palette with touches of red, influenced by his early exposure to analog photography. MTO emphasizes the importance of connecting his art to its environment, rejecting projectors in favor of freehand techniques. Recently, he’s explored new styles, such as digital disruptions and simulacrum, blending reality with artistic illusions.
