O Cinema Returns to Wynwood

Wynwood, Miami, FL (October 16, 2019) – Popular independent film theater O Cinema is returning to Wynwood with the Wynwood Film Series, monthly pop-up screenings throughout the neighborhood in partnership with the Wynwood Business Improvement District (BID). The showings will take place on the last Sunday of each month at different venues throughout the arts district. The first three showings for 2019 will feature cult classics such as Beetlejuice on October 27th, Exit Through the Gift Shop on November 24th and Home Alone on December 27th.

O Cinema established its reputation as Miami’s home for independent cinema in 2008 at its first location in the Wynwood Arts District. Although that first brick-and-mortar location closed, this program ensures O Cinema will remain a cultural staple in the neighborhood. The Wynwood Film Series is part of several new initiatives by the Wynwood BID to ramp up arts and cultural programming in the district. Admission to the Wynwood Film Series will be free and open to the public.

“O Cinema has been an important cultural institution for Wynwood and it was imperative for us to find a way for it to remain in our community,” said Albert Garcia, Chairman of the Wynwood BID. “We are excited to collaborate with Kareem and Vivian to launch the Wynwood Film Series, which will not only expose new audiences to O Cinema but also underscores our renewed commitment to the cinematic arts.”

With a mission to give locals access to intriguing and quality film that are typically not shown in other theaters, O Cinema continues to showcase first-run independent, foreign, art, & family films at affordable prices at its theatres in the North Beach and South Beach neighborhoods of Miami Beach. “We’re excited to continue our mission through the Wynwood Film Series. We thank the community for its ongoing support and are grateful to the Wynwood BID for working to keep us in the neighborhood where it all started for us,” said Kareem Tabsch, Co-Founder, O Cinema.

“We chose Wynwood back in 2008 because it was then and remains today a home for creative ideas and celebration of the arts. We’re excited for this next chapter and hope to see new and old supporters at the Wynwood Film Series,” said Vivian Marthell, Co-Founder, O Cinema.
