Tell us a bit about your business – the concept, what you sell and what makes you unique.
Valija was created in Puerto Rico, in 1993 by innovative young dreamers, who are still determined to grow and learn each day. Thanks to this philosophy, we are now 14 stores strong and have over 200 employees devoted to finding the world’s latest fashions in order to bring them to you.
We design fashionable clothing and accessories with a hippie-chic look that can be sophisticated, modern and urban as well. We are inspired by international trends, but always with the Puerto Rican soul in mind.
We travel around the world, all the way to India, Thailand, the Philippines, Indonesia, Mexico and Brazil, to find anything that can add spice to our Puerto Rican flavor. At Valija you can always find trendsetter designs in unique prints and fabrics that will keep you one step ahead of current fashion trends.
Valija is also committed to our community and to give back. We always re-use, reduce, and recycle, visit us and feel the magic in our one-of-a-kind designs.
Why did you choose to open your business in Wynwood, as opposed to another Miami neighborhood?
We are in love with this neighborhood!!!
Our store in Wynwood is our second store in South Florida and we could not be happier, being part of all the magic that happens in Wynwood everyday is a great way to remain inspired and feed our Caribbean soul.

What does a typical day at Valija look like?
Our store in Wynwood opens at 11am, we set the space with a specific playlist that we have created with our favorite Djs and artists. Our store carries an amazing energy since we have strategically decorated it to match the neighborhood’s vibe with wall art from Alexis Diaz and Jenny Perez. Each of our Valija Girls is ready to enjoy the day at the store while helping others create new fresh looks that make every client feel comfortable in their own skin, without having to compromise the fashion trends. Our pieces are definitely TIMELESS!
What’s your favorite Wynwood spot to visit?
It all depends… our girls are definitely in love with the music and vibes from El Patio, but we also love to grab some bites at Le Chick whenever we need a quick meeting.
