Tell us a bit about your business – the concept, what you sell and what makes you unique.
The Salty Donut is Miami’s first artisanal donut shop! We focus on small-batch, chef-crafted donuts that are masterfully crafted to create an amazing eating experience. Balance of texture, layering of flavors, an extremely high-level of execution while always maintaining a simplistic and rustic approach – these are some of the things to expect when you’re eating one of our creations.
Why did you choose to open your business in Wynwood, as opposed to another Miami neighborhood?
We chose Wynwood because it represents the most open-minded area within the Greater Miami area. Concepts that start in Wynwood are usually much more outside of the box, much quirkier, and highly creative. We fit all of those boxes, and so for us, it was important to ‘stick our flag in the ground’ in the most progressive area of Miami, being that we are one (if not the most) progressive donut shops in the country!

What does a typical day at The Salty Donut look like?
Depends on what’s going on! It usually begins at 3am when our fry team comes in to start cutting, proofing and frying donuts. At 5am, the decor team comes in to start decorating. By 6:45am, the first round of donuts is ready to head to the store from our Commissary in Little River. Those donuts arrive around 7-7:15am for the store to open at 7:30! This process repeats itself throughout the day to maintain the utmost freshness in our donuts!
What’s your favorite Wynwood spot to visit?
That’s a tough one! I would probably say it’s a toss-up between Alter and J. Wakefield Brewing.
The team at this artisanal donut shop and coffee bar is serving up fresh and unique donuts every Tuesday – Sunday at the Wynwood Arcade, a retail and dining destination in the heart of the Wynwood Arts District.
