Tell us a bit about your business – the concept, what you sell and what makes you unique.

Rupees Inc. offers a unique collection of exquisite Sarees, Bollywood Fashions for Men and Women, Incense, Yoga Wear, and Home Decor. We are your one stop shop for all your Bollywood fashion requirements. We offer styles for events including, Indian weddings, Bollywood galas, quince celebrations, birthday parties, and photoshoots.
Why did you choose to open your business in Wynwood, as opposed to another Miami neighborhood?
We opened in Wynwood in 1994 as a wholesale company specializing in resort wear. At the time, Wynwood was predominantly known as the Fashion and Garment District. Many boutique owners from the Caribbean, South America, and Miami would come to the area to buy clothing and accessories for their stores. We’ve continued to evolve and grow with the arts district. Today, we offer retail items, such as our exclusive collection of Sarees and original line of cotton resort wear, in addition to our special/private label orders.

What does a typical day at Rupees look like?
Each day depends on what type of clients drop by and the events that are going on. For Indian weddings or Bollywood themed galas, we have clients that are looking for a unique hand woven silk saree to stand out in at the function. On other days we have tourists or yoga students stop by to stock up on incense, yoga pants, or home décor.
What’s your favorite Wynwood spot to visit?
Some of the coolest spots to visit are Gramps, Evios Food Truck, Wynwood Café, and the Taco Stand.
