How did you become an artist?
I was exposed to art early in life, and especially influenced by my brothers’ work. When I began working as a toy maker, I applied these learnings to my creations – making toys with an artistic touch. From my experience as a toy maker, I began to make art and sculptures with the same goal of bringing joy and happiness.
Tell us about your most recent exhibit at Ranivilu Art Gallery.
It is an exhibition that brings three emerging Venezuelan artists whose research, although dissimilar in proposals, coincide in developing art pieces with a geometric and kinetic approach. I’m joined by Cynthia Gete and Saz Oner.
I’m excited to showcase my work at Ranivilú Art Gallery. It’s an incredible opportunity for exposure of my work and research to a international network of galleries and collectors.
Other than Wynwood, where else have you showcased your work?
In Venezuela I have exhibited my sculptural work and presented my ephemeral work in several museums, galleries and cultural centers. Among the most important are The National Art Gallery, Museum of Fine Arts, Children’s Museum, Carlos Cruz Diez Museum, Hacienda La Trinidad, Metropolitan University, Art Gallery of the UCV, and Simón Bolívar University.
Internationally, I have exhibited at the Naval Museum in Cartagena, Colombia, the Exma Art Center in Calgliari Italy, Cité Internationale des Arts, Paris, France, Bolivar Hall, London, England, amongst others.
Which Wynwood spot are you most looking forward to?
The neighbhorhood’s artistic focus really draws me and I’m thrilled to experience it firsthand. I’m most excited to tour the Wynwood Walls and all of the extraordinary galleries in the area.
