Dear Wynwood BID Community:
Please take a moment to review the following key updates and important advisories:
New Limits for Public Gatherings
Miami-Dade County has issued a new emergency order effective today (3/24) banning the gathering of people in groups of 10 or more in public spaces, including sidewalks, streets, government buildings and alleyways. The order makes an exception for people on public transit vehicles and those waiting at a public transit stop. Businesses that remain open must adhere to CDC social distancing guidelines.
FL Airports Screening & Isolation
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis issued a new emergency order effective today (3/24) that requires anyone on a flight from areas with substantial community spread, including New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, to self-isolate for 14 days upon their arrival in Florida in an effort to control the spread of the Coronavirus. The Florida National Guard will be deployed at Miami International Airport, Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and other airports throughout the state to collect information from passengers on such flights.
Special City Commission Meeting
A virtual, special meeting of the Miami City Commission will be held on Wednesday, March 25th at 8:00pm via videoconference to discuss and take any and all actions necessary to deal with a mandatory shelter in place order or curfew, accessibility of meals and other services to seniors, the City of Miami’s Marlins Park testing initiative, and an update from the City Manager on the City’s progress regarding the COVID-19 pandemic. The public may submit prerecorded public comments by calling 305-960-5353 and/or a prerecorded video to be played during the meeting. The deadline to submit prerecorded phone and video messages is March 25th by 3:00pm. Please visit www.miamigov.com/virtualmeeting for additional information. This meeting will be broadcasted live on the City of Miami website, Facebook, Periscope and Comcast Channel 77 for residents living in the City of Miami.
The Wynwood BID is working closely with the Miami Police Department and Wynwood NET Commander Dan Kerr to increase surveillance throughout the district in an effort to deter any crimes that might occur as a result of closed businesses and/or decreased foot traffic.
The Wynwood BID Clean Street Team and City of Miami Department of Solid Waste continue to work to ensure our neighborhood remains as clean as possible—sweeping and removing trash from sidewalks and public areas on a daily basis—while adhering to guidelines on social distancing and maintaining proper hygiene.
Support for Wynwood F&B
The BID is actively promoting Wynwood food and beverage operators that remain open for take-out and/or delivery services via WynwoodMiami.com and @WynwoodMiami social media channels. Local media outlets and reporters are being provided this information to support their ongoing coverage. We will continue to raise awareness of the neighborhood, including our renowned street art, so that the public can support our local businesses and find peace and inspiration via our channels.
Emergency Bridge Loans
The Florida Small Business Emergency Bridge Loan Program is currently available to small business owners located in all Florida counties statewide that experienced economic damage as a result of COVID-19. Up to $50,000 loans per eligible small business are being offered. The application period is currently open and closes May 8, 2020. Applications will be accepted from qualified for-profit, privately held small businesses that maintain a place of business in the state of Florida with 2 to 100 employees. All qualified applicants must have been established prior to March 9, 2020 and suffered economic injury as a result of the designated disaster.
The Wynwood BID will continue to keep you updated on any substantive changes in policy or actions that may further impact our community. In the meantime, we are available via phone at 786-615-8828 and email at email@example.com should you have any questions.
Please stay safe and healthy,
Wynwood Business Improvement District
