Ogburn (b. 1957)\, better known as Blade\, a famed New York-born artist and a proud owner of the title King of the Trains since he painted over five thousand trains with his striking characters and elegant letters. Famous for his whole subway cars\, he became an icon of New York City and a hero-figure for the younger generation of street artists. Blade stopped painting trains in 1984 as he felt that he had nothing more to prove. Additionally\, he began working in other media including acrylic on canvas\, producing artworks suitable for indoor exhibitions that have brought him worldwide recognition. Since 1981 when he had his first one-man exhibition in Europe\, Blade has participated in many individual and collective shows in notable venues\, such as the Whitney Museum of American Art\, New York; Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum\, Cleveland; the Musée national des Monuments Français\, Paris; the Stedelijk Museum\, Amsterdam; the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA)\, Los Angeles; the Groninger Museum in the city of Groningen in the Netherlands\, and many others.

DESCRIPTION:Join us for a free night at the Museum of Graffiti as we welcome South African multi-disciplinary artist Faith XLVII \nInternationally-acclaimed African street and studio artist Faith XLVII will be at the Museum of Graffiti to release a limited edition print of her original work entitled Chant II\, a piece featured in the museum’s permanent collection. Chant II speaks to the arson attacks on commuter trains in her native South Africa which severely impacted members of the working class who rely so heavily on the public transportation system. According to Faith XLVII\, “The work begs to question the insanity of how\, in a time when we as a society most need to nurture and grow and heal\, continue to burn and rage and decimate.” Concerns of the human condition appear repeatedly in Faith’s works which can be found in exhibitions and collections around the world. \nThe print is 18” x 24” on Moab Entrada Rag Natural 290 gsm paper. Limited Edition of 100. SUMMARY:Paving Paradise
DESCRIPTION:The University of Miami presents Paving Paradise\, a Master of Fine Arts exhibition by Kimberly Bauldree at the University of Miami Wynwood Gallery. Paving Paradise combines the photographic document\, video\, and hand-built ceramic installations to explore human relationship with blue spaces. \nKimberly Bauldree’s love for the water flows through her artwork. She combines video installations with hundreds of handmade ceramic pinch-pots to create an exhibit that oozes watery seduction while delivering a satirical note to the profane management of natural water resources. Bauldree builds layers of detail in her work. Graphically appealing tile installations reveal tessellated photographs of beach erosion in front of high-rise condominiums. She creates textured patterns in the clay with objects found on shorelines and uses water as a tool to erode the surface. \nHer vessels are glazed in shimmering blue-green tones and feature sepia-colored photographic images from public archives. As a nod to surrealist influences\, Bauldree developed a series of landlubber characters adorned in dive helmets to represent the isolation of base desire in contrast to stewardship of nature. These quirky characters play out an open-ended narrative on decorative platters. \nAbout the Artist \nKimberly Bauldree is a fourth generation Floridian whose background in photojournalism and documentary film fueled her curiosity about the natural world and the complex ways that humans revere and exploit natural water resources. She has a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Creative Photography and Master of Arts in Mass Communications\, Documentary Film\, from the University of Florida. \nBauldree worked as a photojournalist in Florida and New York\, taught Photojournalism at the University of Florida\, and produced short documentary-style videos including the official live version music video\, Crystal River\, for Tom Petty’s band Mudcrutch. \nPaving Paradise will be on view until April 25\, 2022\, at the University of Miami Gallery located inside the Wynwood Building\, 2750 NW 3rd Avenue\, Suite 4\, Miami\, FL 33127. SUMMARY:Manmay Lakay by Charlisa Montrope
DESCRIPTION:The University of Miami presents Manmay Lakay by Charlisa Montrope. The exhibition features a compilation of large scale\, colorful\, mixed media prints and artists’ books. Montrope seeks to create a hybrid visual language combining traditional and digital methodologies in contemporary printmaking\, heavily layering color\, and form through collage techniques. \nA multitude of materials and processes is used to reflect the multiculturalism she experiences as a Caribbean immigrant now based in Miami\, while describing her past experiences and ongoing relationship to the Island of St. Lucia. Conflating maps of the island drawn with maps of areas she frequents in Miami; her work unfolds into large scale\, colorful\, linear abstractions evoking a sense of place but also a sense of dislocation. They create a tapestry of her past\, her present\, and possibly a map to her future. \nABOUT THE ARTIST  \nCharlisa Montrope was born in Castries\, Saint Lucia and raised in Miami\, Florida. She graduated from the University of Florida\, New World School of the Arts with an honors BFA in drawing. She is currently pursuing her MFA in printmaking on a full scholarship and teaching assistantship at the University of Miami. \nHer work has been shown extensively in Miami at exhibitions including Mindy Solomon Gallery\, The Yard @ Casalin and Cisneros Fontanals Art Foundation (CIFO). She has also exhibited in “No Rule\, Rule\,” curated by the De La Cruz and was invited by Michael Sellinger to exhibit her work at the Copper Door B&B. Her work is part of various private collections throughout Florida and New Jersey. She and her work were featured in The Miami Hurricane and in online press releases for the Copper Door B&B and Mindy Solomon Gallery. Montrope currently still resides and works in Miami\, Florida. \nManmay Lakay will be on view until April 4\, 2022\, at the University of Miami Gallery located inside the Wynwood Building\, 2750 NW 3rd Avenue\, Suite 4\, Miami\, FL 33127. DESCRIPTION:The University of Miami presents Bright Embers\, a Master of Fine Arts exhibition by Talia Ceravolo at the University of Miami Wynwood Gallery\, in Miami\, FL.  The show features a series of vibrantly colored portraits painted on a selection of square and hand-built\, organically shaped canvases. \nBright Embers\, Ceravolo’s first solo exhibition in Miami\, debuts closely cropped portraits of the artist’s friends and female artists within her community. The direct gaze of her subjects in combination with the richness of her color palette evokes intimacy and warmth between subject and viewer. Ceravolo’s paintings reflect her fascination with individuality and her desire to capture the spirit of each personality\, the “bright ember” within all of us. \nABOUT THE ARTIST  \nTalia Ceravolo is a Miami based contemporary portrait painter working primarily in the medium of oil on canvas. Originally from San Diego\, CA\, Ceravolo completed her Bachelor of Arts degree in Studio Arts with an Emphasis in Oil Painting at San Diego State University in 2013. Talia furthered her education with an independent study of classical Master techniques at the Atelier San Juan in Puerto Rico. In 2019 she was accepted to the MFA program at University of Miami and was awarded the TA Fellowship.  In the pursuit of her expansion as an artist and fueled by her inspiration of the natural world\, she experiments with moving beyond traditional canvases\, developing methods for building organically shaped and stretched supports. \nBright Embers will be on view until March 14\, 2022\, at the University of Miami Gallery located inside the Wynwood Building\, 2750 NW 3rd Avenue\, Suite 4\, Miami\, FL 33127. Intimate acts born from the community of Wynwood will be showcased on stages throughout the event with live performances and DJ sets. Top local boutiques will be showcasing their latest collections LIVE on our fashion runway. Wynwood Life’s cocktail menu will highlight the best and most noteworthy cocktails from the top local bars and restaurants. \nBringing the community together while also giving back is an integral part of Wynwood Life’s mission. This year\, the organizers set out to raise tens of thousands for Wynwood non-profits through various efforts. At Wynwood Life\, guests can drink and donate. One of the most creative fundraisers is $2 from every signature cocktail sold will be donated to various local charities. While Israel and his friends skateboard the city streets and spray-paint the walls of Wynwood\, Miami’s graffiti Mecca\, anxieties emerge twofold: Israel and his family nervously await their Green Cards while he desperately seeks recognition for his art. When Israel decides to spray paint one last wall\, a piece which would command immediate respect from his peers\, a sudden encounter with a vengeful Miami police officer leaves his family and friends devastated\, the Miami community outraged\, and the country reeling from another case of police brutality.

A visual and engaging passage into the work of acclaimed Colombian Master Fernando Botero with music composed by twenty-two times Grammy winner world producer Emilio Estefan. \nBotero Immersed will be open to the public from December 2\, 2021\, through January 31\, 2022\, at the Nader Museum located in the Wynwood Arts District\, Miami. \n“There is a special fondness for Botero’s work in South Florida\, and we are thrilled to share once again the work of such an admired artist\,” said Gary Nader. \nThe exhibition\, defined by Nader as “a remarkable cultural affair and multimedia experience\,” will feature Botero’s iconic body of work from the 60’s to the present day through interactive 360º digital projections\, lights\, music\, and sounds. Guests will witness a selection of significant pieces representing his oeuvre over the last six decades\, such as the circus personages\, bullfighting\, life in Latin America and its people\, and adaptations of the work of art history masters. Botero’s narratives go beyond the represented object; a single image is full of connotations\, and it may take spectators to a vast and unique universe of experiences. \nThe Nader Museum\, with over 1200 works of art from over 150+ important modern and contemporary masters\, is compromised to elevate the importance of our culture by promoting excellence\, a work performed by his founder Gary Nader for over 40 years. \nBotero Immersed is also intended to promote the Nader Museum\, a not-for-profit organization with 501(c)3 tax status. The museum is dedicated to showcasing a myriad of acclaimed art that fosters knowledge through a continuous process of appreciation and reinterpretation of modern and contemporary art from Latin American and its diaspora. Through a permanent collection of paintings\, drawings\, sculptures\, photography\, installations\, and other media\, the museum’s audience can experience and appreciate one of the world’s most significant regions of today’s contemporary art scene.

DESCRIPTION:For the opening day\, the artist will be in attendance to tattoo custom Fuzi-drawn tattoos in his signature style – for free on a first come first serve basis.  \nThis year\, French graffiti and tattoo artist FUZI invades the Museum of Graffiti on Wednesday\, December 1 to present DEFACED\, an exhibition of new works on canvas and historic works from his days as a train painter in Paris. Fuzi’s new exhibit brings to life his tattoo style but this time on canvas. Bold and humorous paintings depicting his raucous cartoon world that has gone mad. Humans vs animals\, vandals vs police and everything in between come together in his expertly rendered pieces. This is lowbrow art at its finest. On view till February 1\, 2022.  \nFuzi will present a 360 degree fully painted immersive room with his signature figures and faces\, titled: IGNORANTISM. The room celebrates his tattoo style of illustration with storytelling of his  \nfavorite subject: street life. Criminals\, vandals\, luxury cars\, beaches\, and animals come to life on the walls and tell the story of excess in Miami. Nightclubs and beach life come together in a monochromatic celebration with ink as the medium. The message – a defaced wall is a good wall\, enjoy it.
