The Street Plans Collaborative and the Wynwood Business Improvement District are seeking design proposals from artists who want a chance to transform a four-block stretch of NW 3rd Avenue in Wynwood from a standard roadway into a one-of-a-kind street art mural.
The large-scale mural will serve as the first step in the long-term transformation of 3rd Avenue into a pedestrian friendly woonerf in the heart of Miami’s bustling urban arts district. Once the winning design submission is selected, Street Plans will convert the design into an easily replicated stencil and will work with members of the community to paint the street together.
Entry requirements and other details are as follows:
- Selected colors should be earth tones and muted.
- The design should be an abstract, repeating pattern (easily translated into a stencil). Examples can be found here.
- The design and color palette will be subject to change pending Miami-Dade County/City of Miami approval.
- Once selected, Street Plans will convert the winning design into a usable stencil and will lead implementation of the mural together with members of the community. These types of projects are part infrastructure, part pubic art, and part public engagement!
While no financial compensation will be awarded, the winning designer will receive invaluable exposure in Miami’s urban arts district.
Artist submissions are due by May 31st and must be sent to email@example.com.
